DAVENPORT was selected by the City of Winston-Salem to design improvements for approximately two miles of Meadowlark Drive to provide safety of the existing roadway with enhanced pedestrian and cyclists accessibility and connectivity to an existing greenway.  

Our team quickly went to work, conducting preliminary engineering studies to develop an innovative solution. We were able to present a conceptual design that included widening one side of the road with the addition of a 10-foot multi-use path in lieu of sidewalks. This option allowed for the extension of the existing Muddy Creek Greenway and Jamison Park and provided for connectivity of the surrounding neighborhoods. Our work also includes numerous enhanced pedestrian crossings to improve safety along the corridor.
