Rocky Mount Computerized Traffic Signal System

In October, 2009 a team including Davenport Transportation Consulting (DTC, formerly John Davenport Engineering, Inc.) was selected to prepare detailed plans and electrical and programming details for the rehabilitation/expansion of the Rocky Mount Computerized Traffic Signal System.

This project includes upgrading the existing signals in Rocky Mount to new 2070 Controllers and associated 330 Type Cabinets, upgrading all pedestrian signals to countdown signal head displays and upgrading all signal displays and local intersection timing to the most current NCDOT and FHWA standards.  This project was awarded by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.  The traffic signal designs and associated electrical details on this project are particularly complex as many include a combination of railroad preemption and emergency vehicle preemption.

These complex designs are unique and require a high level of expertise in both traffic signal design and electrical and programming detail.  The project team was awarded this project with Notice to Proceed expected in April of 2010.
