John Davenport, Jr., PE - President
John Davenport has nearly 20 years of comprehensive experience in the field of transportation and civil engineering. His first ten years were spent with NCDOT where he developed invaluable relationships with NCDOT officials statewide. Mr. Davenport has worked in the Raleigh, Greensboro and Winston-Salem offices of NCDOT in various positions related to transportation. His last position was as the Division Traffic Engineer for NCDOT Division Nine in Winston-Salem, NC. His projects can be found throughout the state. Since leaving NCDOT, Mr. Davenport has worked as a consultant throughout the Southeast, providing transportation engineering services to both public and private sector clients. John enjoys working with challenging projects and is a team builder who specializes in dealing with complex problems that require the cooperation of multiple agencies. His desire is always for a “win-win” – and generally that is what he achieves. John’s philosophy and approach to his job is that he wants the finished product of whatever he is working on to be satisfactory to ALL stakeholders – the client, the reviewing agency (often the same), and the public. John is not afraid to suggest solutions that may be unconventional, as he believes that good engineering involves both science and creativity. John has a vast network of contacts throughout DTC’s service area. These relationships and John’s experience often prove vital in keeping our projects on schedule. His good decision making and ability to multitask enable him to be a superior project manager. With tight economic conditions as they currently exist, his uncanny ability to value engineer viable solutions help our clients to stretch limited resources to achieve maximum impact.
Mr. Davenport is a licensed professional engineer in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Virginia.
