Entry level traffic Engineer

Job Purpose

DAVENPORT is looking to fill an Entry Level Traffic Engineer position that will be assigned to our Traffic Team. The prospective candidate would have opportunities to work in both traffic analysis and signal design. Interested candidates must have a willingness to perform general traffic engineering and transportation-related tasks, supporting various project managers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with team members and agencies

  • Performance of transportation engineering analysis, including traffic impact studies, corridor studies, capacity and safety analyses, multi-modal operation studies, traffic simulations, and planning studies

  • Assistance with signal optimization and signal design projects

  • Collection, organization, research, and analysis of project data

  • Preparation of technical documents and reports

  • Perform site visits and data collections

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

  • Desire to work in the traffic engineering and transportation planning field

  • Strong communication skills

  • Detail oriented, proactive approach to tasks, highly motivated

  • Ability to work independently and with a team

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Possess or be working towards obtaining the Engineer-In-Training/ Engineering Intern

  • Transportation engineering intern/co-op experience is a plus

  • Knowledge of traffic engineering and design software (HCS, Synchro, TransModeler, VISSIM, ArcGIS, MicroStation) is a plus
