City of Raleigh Pedestrian and Bicycle Data Collection
Project Description

DAVENPORT worked on pedestrian and bicycle counts at 38 locations for the City of Raleigh. This study comprised of both mid-block and intersection counts. DAVENPORT recorded 11-hour videos at all locations on four separate days (Monday-Thursday) using three types of cameras: CountCAM Mini, Miovision and CAMDAT. The type of equipment to be deployed was decided based on the area lighting at the count location. These counts were conducted when schools were in session and when the City of Raleigh and State of North Carolina were operating under normal conditions. These recorded videos were being processed in-house per the City of Raleigh requirements, using the JAMAR Count boards and Excel spreadsheets. DAVENPORT also prepared a GIS-compatible database to include geo-coded points of collected field data with one-hour breakdowns as part of this project.
